Would-Be Jumper Hospitalized After Closing Lanes Of George Washington Bridge (Update)

A would-be George Washington Bridge jumper was hospitalized Tuesday night, Sept. 24, after bringing traffic along the bridge to a halt, authorities said.

A spokesperson for the Port Authority Police Department confirmed the investigation but not have any further information as of 7:40 p.m.

Wednesday morning, a spokesperson said that the incident was reported at 5:42 p.m. near the 179th Street ramp in the westbound lanes. All lanes along the ramp were closed.

The man was removed and taken to a local hospital, the PAPD said. Traffic resumed at 7:24 p.m.
